Our firm is honored to stand with hundreds of solo and small firm lawyers from across the country as amici in Perkins Coie LLP v. United States, challenging Trump’s Executive Order 14230.
This Executive Order doesn’t just target one firm—it sets a dangerous precedent that threatens the right to counsel and the independence of the legal profession. By punishing attorneys for the clients they choose to represent, it strikes at the heart of our justice system.
For small firms like ours, the risk is especially real. We don’t have institutional firewalls—when our access is cut off, our clients lose their advocates. And many of the people we serve can’t afford to be silenced.
We’re deeply grateful to attorney Carolyn Elefant for authoring a powerful brief that elevates the voices of solo and small firm practitioners who serve as frontline defenders of civil rights, fairness, and access to justice. We also thank Amici Andrea Goldman, who co-authored the brief, and Amici Kimberly Russell, Esq., who edited it. This effort is about protecting our ability to do the work—and ensuring that no one is denied legal representation simply because their case challenges those in power.
