Getting fired or laid off can be so disempowering & frightening.

I often have clients who have reported illegal conduct and then experience retaliation waiting for the final hammer to drop. Last year it was the mother whose child needed weekly chemo. This year it was a client who reported toxic fumes at her workplace. We discuss their happy place and make a plan to go there when their boss finally decides to terminate their employment. This is a way to take back your joy even in a small way as they grieve the loss of a job they loved. For the mother it was a hot dog stand at the zoo with her child. For our latest whistleblower, it was by the water with her significant other. It is the beginning of something new but take the time to grieve and look after yourself before taking next steps. For me, it usually involves the ocean.
