Today is LGBTQIA+ Equal Pay Awareness Day!
The Human Rights Campaign Foundation found that full-time LGBTQIA+ workers make approximately 90 cents for every $1 earned by the average worker in the US. It’s even larger for LGBTQ+ women– at 79 cents.
In a year marked by numerous anti-LGBTQIA+ legislation, it is crucial to address wage inequality alongside other forms of discrimination. Inclusive solutions are needed to uplift all voices within the diverse LGBTQIA+ community.
Some ways you can help take action include:
– Supporting the Equality Act: This Act would end legal discrimination on the basis of gender and sexual orientation in employment, education, housing, and more [link in bio]
– Supporting the LGBTQIA+ Data Inclusion Act: This Act ensures federal agencies collect data on sexual orientation and gender identity to better address the needs of the LGBTQIA+ community [link in bio]
